Workshop - Chakra Psychology for Everyday Life

Chakra Psychology for Everyday Life

A workshop to kick-start the exploration into your energy, or pranic body. Enabling one to go deeper in yogic practice and take the wisdom of these fascinating 8 energy centers into everyday life. Whirling Wonders is a 3-hour Introduction to the Chakras, in order to initiate an exploration journey of these wonderful wells of knowledge within oneself. The pranic body - the home the Chakras - is a vast subject primarily because each and every aspect of who one is - physically, emotionally, and mentally can be attributed to the balance or imbalance of a chakra(s) within the body. The workshop covers the basic characteristics and functions of each chakra, including but not limited to:

· What each chakra “looks like” in its personality both in potential, balanced, and shadow properties as well as deficient and excessive states;

· What emotions and mental qualities are expressed within the frequency of each chakra;

· Which Asanas (physical yoga postures) stimulate and open each energy center; and

· Includes meditation to help one tap into the subtle energy of whirling wonders within

· Incorporation of the koshas and yoga philosophy throughout

 Investment : $40

Sarah Manwaring-Jones

Sarah integrates the powers of embodiment, silence & creativity as a way to encourage individuals to source from within to find meaning & nourishment in their lives.  Sharing yoga for Sarah is about diving into embodied curiosities and communicating them in the context of an ancient art.  It is about asking questions and unravelling into the sheer presence of this cells & this living nervous system.

‘For me, yoga is a living art.

A creative expression.

A cellular collage of experience.

A process which continually surprises me with the biases of my perception, the edges of my existence. Over and over again, yoga reminds me to let go into infinity.’

Friday Fun Night : Kirtan

Join us Friday May 3rd for our monthly Friday Night Kirtan. Everyone welcome!

About:
Chanting or Kirtan is a part of the path of Bhakti or Devotional Yoga. When we see the beauty of our own being we are seeing the beauty of the Oneness of which we are all a part. When we turn towards that Oneness, love is the natural reaction of the heart. This special devotional practice involves call and response chanting of various mantras with the intention of opening one’s heart and purely expressing the love within that through song. Generally traditional Sanskrit mantras are used, however this isn’t always the case. When we chant mantras, we aren’t creating something new; we are tuning into a vibrational frequency that has been resonating around the universe, coming from countless practitioners across the years and constantly rippling outward.

This event is party of our weekly Friday-Fun-Night Series. Every Friday evening join Village Yoga for a different community-based sattvic event. All events are by donation (cash-only) with all proceeds going back into community ♥

Mindful Moving

Gentle Somatic Yoga & Movement Workshop

Investment: $40

Hanna Somatics offers gentle movement patterns that change our bodies (somas) by changing our nervous system.  Integrated with yoga, we dive inward exploring the body as perceived from within, enhancing sensory-motor communication.  Using the neo-cortex and the plasticity of the brain to release stuck patterns of contraction that can cause pain. Ultimately the intent is to be free and move in functional triaxial pathways of our choice.

Leslie Young is a yoga teacher, Hanna Somatic movement educator, massage practitioner and outdoor enthusiast.  Since discovering and training in Hanna Somatics as a way of reducing pain, this gentle approach to movement continues to infuse her practice and research.   Her clear, down to earth teaching invites space and ease in the mind and body.  She lived and taught yoga in the Whistler/Pemberton area for 20 years.  Now based on Savary Island, she divides her time between the ocean and the mountains, balancing fluidity and stability in life and yoga.

Kundalini Workshop with Sarah Harvie

Sunday December 2nd 3-5 pm

Workshop Description:

In this workshop We will cover simple, short and effective daily practices (Kriya and mantra) for strengthening your will power.  By strengthening your inner resolve your outer confidence and boundaries will shift.  You will leave this workshop feeling energized , empowered and grounded.

What is Kundalini Yoga :

The science of Kundalini yoga  - as taught by Yogi Bhajan -offers self-mastery and an awakening to your fullest potential. Kundalini Yoga is the mother yoga using a powerful combination of asana, pranayam, manta, meditation and Savasana to relax and restore the body’s systems simultaneously, increasing flexibility, energy, and overall strength. Kundalini Yoga is an effective practice as it works directly on the glandular and nervous systems elevating immunity and harmony inside the body as well as charging the electromagnetic field. This sacred and scientific technology allows one the space to access a deeper level of realization, resilience and perseverance while elevating consciousness. All levels welcome.

About Sarah:

As a lifelong adventurer, Sarah Harvie has been leading people on their inner and outer journeys internationally for over fifteen years.  Seeking the road less travelled, Sarah has discovered great healing and wisdom from extended journeys through the wilderness and from her own deep inner practices of yoga and meditation.  As she continues on her path of healing and awakening, she shares her practice with others through a variety of healing modalities that have proven to be instrumental to her own path: CranioSacral & Massage TherapyYoga Asana & Nidra, and Wilderness Yoga Retreats across the globe.

Sarah's professional experience is as diverse and multi-faceted as she is.  Through her decade of work with the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), leading month-long backpacking, backcountry skiing, whitewater canoeing and rafting expeditions throughout the Americas, Sarah has developed an intimate understanding of the vast landscapes of our world and the skills needed to skillfully journey off the beaten path into wild and wonderful terrains.  The same can be said of Sarah's inner journey.  Having completed Advanced Training in CranioSacral Therapy & Visceral Manipulation (Upledger Institute), Massage Therapy, Yoga (RYT), Yoga Nidra and her personal meditation practice, Sarah has cultivated the invaluable tools necessary to skillfully navigate through the inner landscapes of the body and mind.  As a lifelong student, Sarah continues to travel and deepen her own journey through extended periods of training and retreat with her esteemed teachers:  Doreen Spence (Cree Elder); Ajahn Sona (Buddhist Monk) and Ally Bogard (Yoga Teacher).

Integrating these healing modalities and sacred teachings, Sarah is able to offer her clients a truly unique healing experience, helping them to find well-being.
