Chanting or Kirtan is a part of the path of Bhakti or Devotional Yoga. When we see the beauty of our own being we are seeing the beauty of the Oneness of which we are all a part. When we turn towards that Oneness, love is the natural reaction of the heart. This special devotional practice involves call and response chanting of various mantras with the intention of opening one’s heart and purely expressing the love within that through song. Generally traditional Sanskrit mantras are used, however this isn’t always the case. When we chant mantras, we aren’t creating something new; we are tuning into a vibrational frequency that has been resonating around the universe, coming from countless practitioners across the years and constantly rippling outward.
