Teaching an impactful yoga class involves a balance of clarity and authenticity, inspiration and sound instruction. The teacher's intention is the ballast for this interplay, but how do we turn intention into action? Or even go about setting an intention for a class? Nature, poems, conversation, and global events all may be rich sources of inspiration, but how might we translate our inspiration into rich class experiences?

All aspects of our teaching can be fruitful domains to answer these questions, and this workshop will be an exploration of all these and more. We will begin with the "bones" of the class structure, starting with recognzing the key components of a class plan that lead to success, all the way to getting playful with different sequencing templates that facilitate the greatest expression of a theme. Our language use is also an important opportunity to transmit our intention. Whether you are a seasoned teacher or just starting, you may find yourself repeating certain turns of phrase... and while nothing is wrong with a good cue, modifying our instructions on purpose can imbue cues with more dimensionality and better serve our intention.

The following are topics that we will explore over the 9.5 hours of instructional time:

  • Sequencing to a peak pose; the failsafe class structure

  • Class-planning around key actions

  • Creative templates to embody energetic themes

  • Adapting cues to serve your intention

  • Teaching to different student types

  • Pulling threads from the greater tradition with authenticity

Join us for this intensive and breathe fresh life into your teaching! You will walk with tangible tools that you can use again and again to mine the depths of your creativity and teach with impact.
